2. Why were the Directives introduced?
Among others, the key objectives of the Directives are:-
a. To control and monitor the purchases of Diesel and Motor Gasoline (Premium 97, Super 92 dan Regular 85) made in the country.
b. To enable the domestic consumption of the petroleum products to be continuously monitored. Export of the subsidized oil products is restricted under the Customs (Prohibition and Restriction on Imports and Exports) Order 2006.
c. To ensure that the countrywide stock (CWS) of petroleum products is sufficient to meet domestic demand at all times. The Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam with the cooperation of Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sendirian Berhad (BSP) and Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sendirian Berhad (BSM) will always ensure that the CWS of the said petroleum products is adequate and stable without the need to import.
3. Are other products such as Kerosene, bottled LPG and Lubricants affected by the Directives?
No.
4. Are the prices of Gasoline and Diesel affected with the introduction of the Directives?
The pump prices for petroleum products sold to Brunei-registered vehicles and vessels remain the same.
However, for non-Brunei registered vehicles and vessels, commercial prices are applied. The pump prices for Premium 97 and Diesel are currently set at B$0.89/litre and B$0.84/litre respectively and the prices are subject to changes. |
