The Petroleum Unit, established on 15th June 1982, was initially under the State Secretariat
and was known as the Oil Unit. Since its establishment, the Petroleum Unit has been
entrusted with increasing responsibilities in its work scope. The Petroleum Unit is headed
by a Director and assisted by a Deputy Director. At present there are
about 96
personnel in the Petroleum Unit, of whom more than half are graduate officers from various
disciplines, e.g., engineering, finance, economics, legal, human resource management, etc.
